Ceres Games 29th June 2013

Fife Folk Museum

Ceres has a rich and proud history with links back to 1324 and the Battle of Bannockburn. The men of Ceres fought bravely alongside Robert the Bruce and, as a celebration of their triumph, were awarded their own Highland Games. This tradition is kept alive by the staging of Ceres Annual Games on the last Saturday in June and is unique in that it is entirely free of charge. For further information on the Ceres games and other useful information please visit our links page.

As well as the village Highland Games on the 29th of June, which is a great day out for all the family, other local attractions include Craigtoun Park which is ideal for families, the Secret Bunker if you are interested in  the history of the cold war and Falkland Palace - where the Kings of Scotland stayed before their coronations.

Local amenities include clay pigeon shooting and, in season, game bird shooting can be arranged on a local estate less than a mile away, all equipment and training provided. The estate has a beautiful loch and is stocked with rainbow trout available for guests to fish, all equipment provided. Excellent road and rail links to Scotland's major cities, Edinburgh is just forty minutes driving time away - travelling through the beautiful Fife countryside to the world famous bridges crossing the Forth Estuary. A visit to St Andrews is a must for visitors. It is good to walk round the historic streets and visit Scotland's only' Bottle dungeon' or on the sands where some scenes from the inspiring film 'Chariots of Fire' were filmed.
